Backrooms has found its way out of the shadows and into the record books, officially becoming A24’s highest-grossing movie at the domestic box office. A24’s new horror movie was released in theaters in the United States on May 29 and debuted to $81.5 million domestically, breaking the record for the studio’s biggest opening weekend ever. Its director, Kane Parsons, at just 20 years old, also became the youngest filmmaker to open No. 1 at the box office.
